DUVALL – The Lyncs lit up the scoreboard early, scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter, and ended up defeating the Red Wolves 40-14 at Cedarcrest High School on Friday night.
Lynden Christian’s first touchdown came when a low snap went through the punter’s legs, and when he tried to pick it up, he was met by junior Kade Eldgridge, which knocked the ball toward the end zone and senior Caleb Ryan picked it up for the score.
Senior quarterback Will Colwell connected on fellow senior Jamison Hintz on a pair of long touchdown passes to complete the scoring of the first quarter. Colwell had a huge game, completing 20-of-28 passes for 244 yards and four touchdowns. He also led the Lyncs on the ground with 65 yards and another score on just eight attempts.
Hintz led in receiving with six receptions for 101 yards, with all of his numbers coming in the first half.
Colwell also hit Ryan and Eldridge on touchdown passes in the second half.
The LC defense had a tremendous game, stopping Cedarcrest for a loss on 12 plays. Senior defensive tackle Roman Meenk had 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, and senior inside linebacker Matthew Burrows showed amazing timing on his inside blitzes as he wound up with 2.5 sacks and another tackle for loss.
At current time, the Lyncs (1-2) do not have a game scheduled for week four, but with all the cancelations statewide, they could pick up a game before starting conference play in week five against Blaine (2-0).
