BLAINE – When Lynden senior guard Coston “Bubba” Parcher entered the Blaine gymnasium on Thursday night, he must have been feeling pretty good. He went on to drain his first five 3-point attempts of the game, finishing 7-of-8 behind the arc, and had a career-high 31 points as the Lions defeated the Borderites 75-47.
Lynden’s length defensively forced Blaine to take uneasy shots all game, and the Lions then turned defense into instant offense, especially in the second quarter when they outscored the Borderites 17-4, and went into halftime with a 32-13 advantage.
Junior guard Anthony Canales caught fire in the third quarter, as he scored 15 of his 22 points in the period to help push Lynden’s advantage further out of Blaine’s grasp.
6-foot-6 sophomore forward Brant Heppner led Lynden with 11 rebounds, while seniors Trey Smiley and Kobe Baar each dished out six assists.
The Borderites were led by the 14 points of junior forward Noah Tavis.
It was the first conference loss for Blaine.
