BELLINGHAM – The Lions defeated Archbishop Murphy in three sets, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-18 in the semi-final round of the district tournament at Squalicum High School on Wednesday night.
It was a tremendous team effort, with Grace Rice leading the offense with 24 assists and four kills, and Ashley Shumate and Haylee Koetje with 10 kills a piece.
Koetje also added 10 digs, while Mya VanderYacht had 12 digs and Shumate dug out eight. Kayla DeJong added five kills and two blocks while Lucy White remained superb at the service line with four aces.
The Lions will face Burlington-Edison for the district championship at 5:00 on Saturday at Squalicum High School.
