Lynden Wins Battle Between One-Loss Teams

BELLINGHAM – The Lynden volleyball team showed great strength on Thursday night by beating Meridian in three straight sets.

The first set was the closest, as the Lions won 25-20, and the momentum continued as they won 25-16 and 25-18 to finish out the evening.

Junior outside hitter Anna Vander Yacht led the Lynden attack with 12 kills and three aces. She also totaled 12 digs. Senior middle hitter Savonne Sterk wasn’t far behind with nine kills and a block.

Senior Robin Scarlett led with 31 assists, junior Faith Baar was strong with seven kills and a pair of blocks and senior Kennedy House led her team with 20 digs.

Lynden (5-1) will host Nooksack Valley (3-3) on Tuesday, and Meridian (5-2) will travel to Ferndale (4-1) on Tuesday.
