LYNDEN – The current hot streak that the Lion volleyball team is on couldn’t be cooled on senior night as Lynden won its seventh match in a row be defeating a very strong Ferndale team 3-1 on Thursday night.
After the Lions won the first set 25-14, the serving of senior Emily House took center stage. She served a school-record 19 straight points, which included four aces, to help lead Lynden to a 25-3 victory in the second set.
The Golden Eagles fought back to win the third set, 25-23, but Lynden closed out the match in the fourth set by winning 25-12.
Senior Kennedy House had 17 digs and five aces. Senior Robin Scarlett contributed with 33 assists and eight kills, and fellow senior Savonne Sterk had nine kills and a team-high seven blocks.
A pair of juniors also had big nights for the Lions as Anna Vander Yacht had 12 digs to go along with her 10 kills, and the 6-foot-1 power house Faith Baar hit .370 with 12 kills and three blocks.
Lynden (11-1) will travel to Squalicum (6-5) on Tuesday to take on the Storm, and Ferndale (8-3) will host Bellingham (2-10) on Wednesday.

After losing the first set, 25-22, Meridian won the next three to defeat Mount Baker and go to 8-5 on the season. The Mountaineers fell to 2-10. It was a well-balanced attack for the Trojans with senior Makenzie Flake and Alofa Fraser each landing 12 kills. Flake also had 13 digs and two aces. Sophomore Finnley Claeys totaled 11 kills, 18 digs and three aces, and fellow sophomore Malaysia Smith had 47 assists and 10 digs.
Lynden Christian defeated Lakewood 3-0, Anacortes beat Bellingham 3-0, Sedro Woolley took it to Blaine 3-0 and Nooksack Valley got a strong 3-0 win over Sehome.
