Meridian Bats Stay Hot at Blaine

BLAINE – Meridian scored in almost every inning, and came away with a 10-4 victory against Blaine on Wednesday.

Sophomore Ryan Johnson got the start, and he went three innings to pick up the win. Senior Simon Burkett closed the game out, pitching the final four innings and picking up the save.

The Borderites kept it close, trailing just 4-2 after four innings, but the Trojans turned it on the final three innings.

Seniors Baker Otter and Matthew Belanger each got a pair of hits. Otter also scored two runs and stole a base, while Belanger had a triple, a double and two RBI’s.

Blaine junior Chase Abshere went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Meridian (2-0) faces Lakewood (0-2) on the road on Friday at 4:30, and the Borderites (1-1) travel to Lynden Christian (1-1) to face the Lyncs on Friday at 4:30.
