KIRKLAND – The Trojans did almost everything right during this game, but couldn’t come up with more points than the Eagles as Cedar Park Christian defeated Meridian 24-21 at Harold Bergh Field on Friday night.

Brennan

The Trojans ran 25 more plays than the Eagles, had 150 more rushing yards, had 51 more passing, but they allowed a few big pass plays, and that was the difference on the scoreboard.

The Eagles scored first on a 32-yard field goal, and scored again late in the second quarter on a 38-yard pass for a touchdown. Cedar Park Christian was up 10-0 at halftime, despite being outgained by over 100 yards. An interception, and a few turnover on downs allowed the Eagles some short fields early on.

Meridian sustained a long drive in the third quarter, and junior running back Kelley Gray put the finishing touch on it with a 5-yard touchdown run between the tackles. Landen Downey’s extra point made it 10-7, advantage Eagles.

The two teams would trade touchdowns from there on out, with that early field goal always giving Cedar Park Christian a slight advantage.

Hoefer

Junior quarterback Jaeger Fyfe completed two touchdown passes to freshman wide receiver Kasey Brennan in the fourth quarter. Fyfe finished with 237 yards through the air, and Brennan had his best game of the season with six receptions for 104 yards and the two scores.

The Trojan defense came up big most of the night, and held the Eagles to negative 30 yards on the ground. Multiple players had several stops behind the line of scrimmage, but 6-foot-5 250-pound junior Lincoln Hoefer stood out with 6.5 tackles, including five tackles for loss. He also batted a pass in the air at the line of scrimmage with was then intercepted by Brennan.

The Trojans finished their season with a 4-6 record.
