The evening also served as a fundraiser for former player Yashleen Singh, who was injured in a horrific accident last spring. She served as the honorary coach, and the event was able to raise close to $4,000 for her therapy costs.

“I am so incredibly proud of how far she has come and so happy that we could help out,” Meridian coach Shannon Claeys said in an email. “The Meridian and Mount Baker community really showed up for her tonight!”

The Trojan volleyball team showed up as well, as junior Finnley Claeys led the way with 12 kills, 15 digs and three aces, and fellow junior Jolena Hoefer added nine kills, 10 digs and three aces.

Freshman Emry Claeys had eight kills, and junior Kadance Blankers had 11 digs. Senior Brynn Neal had two aces and three kills, and sophomore Avery Neal had five aces and eight digs. Junior Malaysia Smith finished with 32 assists.
