The Mountaineer’s offense was also on point as it picked up its 13 runs in the first three innings. Freshman catcher Ashlynn Cloninger knocked in three runs, with Miles and Kenzie Ross each adding two runs batted in.

Cloninger also led her team with three runs scored from the leadoff position, with Kennedy West, Kaitlyn Rosenburg and Hannah Pelan each scoring a pair of runs. Rosenburg crushed a triple to left field, while Ross, Miles and Grace Davis each hit a double.

Baker was able to get on base multiple times without getting base hits, including nine walks.

West pitched the final inning, and struck out a pair of batters.

The Mounties (1-0) will face Sultan (0-0) at home on Wednesday.
