The Washington State Softball Coaches Association chose it’s All-State teams yesterday, and nine of Whatcom County’s best were selected.
The Sehome Mariners and Lynden Christian Lyncs each had three players named. For Sehome, junior pitcher Savannah Smith and senior third baseman Carissa McDowell were each named to the 2A All-State 2nd Team, and junior catcher Megan Hall was an Honorable Mention. Senior Lync shortstop Avery Dykstra was selected onto the 1A All-State 2nd Team, while fellow seniors Sam Van Loo (pitcher) and Tori Bajema (catcher) were each named Honorable Mention.
The Lynden senior duo of catcher Megan Paoli and second baseman Alexis Fredin were each named All-State 2nd Team for class 2A, and Mount Baker senior centerfielder Kaylea Sleveland was an Honorable Mention on the 1A All-State Team.
All nine athletes helped lead their respective teams to the state tournament.
