SHORELINE – The Pioneers matched the Knights blow for blow in the first half, but the second half didn’t go their way as King’s defeated Nooksack Valley 44-20 at Woolsey Stadium on Friday night.

Kimball

The Pioneers got on the board first when sophomore quarterback Joey Brown hit senior wide receiver Dawson Kimball, who came up with a spectacular catch in the end zone, from 27 yards out. Brown then kept the ball on a read-option play, and raced around the left end to score from 34 yards away later in the first quarter, which gave Nooksack Valley a 13-7 lead.

The Knights scored a few more touchdowns, but the Pioneers answered back with an 11-yard touchdown sprint up the middle by senior running back Jordan Silva. Caleb Kingma’s point after tied the game at 20, but that would be the final point scored by Nooksack Valley.

King’s kicked a field goal at the end of the first half to take a 23-20 lead, and would go on to score three unanswered touchdowns in the second half.

The Pioneers (2-2) begin conference play on Friday when they travel to Meridian (3-1) to take on the Trojans.
