NOOKSACK – Patience at the plate, dominant pitching and awesome defense all came together as Nooksack Valley beat LaConner 33-0 on Friday.
Senior Kyle Veldman started on the mound and pitched a perfect two innings, six up and six down, striking out four. Nick Averys went the final three innings for the Pioneers, giving up just two hits while striking out five.
Averys was also the star offensively, going 3-for-3 with a triple and five RBI’s. Tyler Weed, Casey Bauman, Trey Eshuis and Easton Zylstra each had a pair of hits. Zylstra’s were both doubles.
Weed and Evan Neitling each scored three runs, and the Pioneers as a team walked 15 times.
