NOOKSACKÂ – The Nooksack Valley volleyball team had great individual performances, as well as strong team play, as it defeated Anacortes 3-1 on Thursday night.
The Pioneers won the first set 25-15, but were defeated 25-19 in the second set. They got back into it afterwards, though, and won the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-17.
Junior Jenna Compton had her best hitting performance of the season, as she registered a team-high 19 kills. She also added 13 digs and two aces. Juniors Lexi Strong and Maya Galley put forth tremendous defensive efforts to total 20 digs and 27 digs, respectively. Strong also had 38 assists and Galley had eight kills.
Senior Jasmin Harmon had three blocks in very key moments, and she also had three aces. The overall consistent play of junior Destiny Dunlap was also very impressive. She totaled nine kills, 13 digs and a block.
Nooksack Valley (3-3) will travel to Lynden (5-1) on Tuesday to take on the Lions.
