MARYSVILLE – The Mariners fast-pitch team had an amazing season last year, and it got off to a great start in the first inning, scoring two runs, but the Tomahawks poured it on after that, winning 12-2.
Carissa McDowell’s single scored Tori McDowell, and Megan Hall’s sacrifice fly scored Lauren Dodge in the first inning; however, the offense ended there.
Savannah Smith went the distance for Sehome, and despite giving up some hits and runs, she struck out eight and walked only two.
The Mariners (0-1) play a double header today at Daniels Field in Anacortes, starting at 2:00 against Sequim, followed up by a matchup with Holy Names Academy.
