DUVALL – The Sehome football team looked as dominant as ever as it shut out Cedarcrest 33-0 on a foggy Friday night.

A. Roberts

The Mariners held the Red Wolves to just 92 total yards of offense, meanwhile the Sehome offense was cooking all night. Sophomore quarterback Jacob Kaepernick has led the county in passing yards all season, and he had the best game of his young career. He completed 15-of-26 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns. His first TD pass of the night went to sophomore Tim Malo, who caught a short pass and danced his way through defenders for a 45-yard score.

Travier

Kaepernick then found senior Austin Roberts on two very similar touchdown passes in the second and third quarters. One was for 31 yards, and the second was for 24 yards. Roberts finished with a season-high 173 yards receiving on seven catches. He picked up a big chunk of those yards on a 72-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter.

The Mariner defense was suffocating, with defensive linemen Rylie Bair and Josh Dentel each picking up multiple stops behind the line of scrimmage. Senior safety Jay Travier also had a big impact, intercepting two passes. He is now tied for the Whatcom County lead with four interceptions on the season. He led the county with five last season.

Junior running back Dawson Smith picked up a late touchdown on a 7-yard run.

The Mariners (who are 3-3 for the first time since 2004) will take on Anacortes (0-6) at Civic Stadium this Saturday night.
