SEATTLE – The Sehome Mariners boys tennis team captured the 2A State Championship, as did its singles star, Zach Chai, and its top doubles team of Calvin Kraynak and Whitt Gresham, and they did it without losing a single set at the Nordstrom Tennis Center at the University of Washington.
Along with Nathan Gruman’s first round win, Sehome was able to total 24 total points, four more than second place North Kitsap.
Bellingham’s duo of Kira Carlson and Ella Morrow took second place in doubles competition, helping the Bayhawks capture fourth place in state as a team.
Adia and Kalanie Newcomb finished third place in the doubles bracket, and helped Lynden finish fifth in state.
