Sehome senior Savannah Smith was the most dominant pitcher in the Northwest Conference

The All-Northwest Conference Fastpitch teams were announced on Tuesday, as voted on by the NWC coaches. Sehome senior pitcher Savannah Smith was named as the conference Defensive Player of the Year. Anacortes was also well represented as senior center fielder Megan Bellusci was named as the Offensive Player of the Year and Tom Swapp was named Coach of the Year.

Smith helped the Mariners to a 18-6 record and pitched every single inning during the season. It’s hard to win if you can’t score runs, and Smith made it extremely hard to score runs! In 166 and 2/3 innings she only allowed 41 earned runs to give her a 1.72 ERA. She was also a strike-throwing machine, with 266 strikeouts to only 28 walks.
