After a one-run loss to Lakewood to begin the season, the Storm fast-pitch team has been one of the most dominant teams in the county.
They followed up their loss with a 6-2 win over Burlington-Edison the next day, and have shut out their next three opponents, currently sitting at a 4-1 record.
All of Squalicum’s players have been instrumental in the success of the team, but two in particular have stood out lately. Senior Kaeli Andersen and freshman pitcher, Gracie Nguyen.
Andersen currently has a .786 batting average (11 for 14), and of her 11 hits, only two of them have been singles! She has five doubles, a triple and three home runs. Two of those home runs were grand slams, that she had in the same game! She also has an amazing 19 RBI’s, and has walked twice.
Nguyen has pitched every inning for the Storm, and has become more and more dominant as the season as gone on. In 25 innings of work she has allowed just 18 hits, while striking out 43, and walking only four. Her ERA currently stands 1.12.
Squalicum will look to avenge its loss against Lakewood on Tuesday, April 10, on the road at 4:00.
