LAKEWOOD – Leading 15-8 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Squalicum baseball team was just trying to get the last three outs against Lakewood. But, the Cougars made it interesting before the Storm pulled out a 15-14 victory.
Junior Reid Mazzacano went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, and also picked up the victory on the hill. He pitched 2 and 2/3 of an inning and struck out three batters. Senior Owen McCord picked up his first save of the season.
Juniors Josh Boysen and August Williams each picked up three hits for the Storm, while fellow juniors Travis Krause and Spencer Lloyd each knocked in two runs.
Squalicum (1-1) is at Lynden (2-0) today.
