On this day in Whatcom County football history:
1975: Sehome senior running back Bob Bray set a school record by rushing for 261 yards in a 16-14 loss to Mount Vernon. His record stood for 33 years.
1992: Nooksack Valley junior running back Nathan Ryan became the first player in school history to rush for four touchdowns in a game. He did it in a 27-7 win over Friday Harbor. His school record was broken two years later.
1997: Mount Baker senior running back Joe Schleimer set a school record by carrying the ball 41 times in a 13-7 win over Lakewood. 23 years, and three Schleimers later, it is still the school record.
2003: Mount Baker beat Blaine 76-0, and by doing so, it’s the most points ever scored in Mountaineer school history. Amazingly, they did it by running just 30 offensive plays.
