On this day in Whatcom County football history:
1999: Meridian senior quarterback Jeff Bennum became the first player in Whatcom County history to throw six touchdowns in a game. He did it in a 67-0 win over South Whidbey, and it still stands as the Whatcom County record.
2010: Ferndale senior running back Riley Locker set a school record by rushing for six touchdowns in a 48-27 win over Shorecrest. Locker’s school record still stands 10 years later.
2016: Ferndale junior quarterback James Hinson set a school record by passing for 252 yards in a 47-42 loss against Squalicum. Hinson still owns the school record.
