On this day in Whatcom County football history:
1981: Bellingham senior quarterback Doug Kushan opened up the run-n-shoot offense, and passed for a school-record 315 yards in a 27-8 win over Anacortes. His school record stood for 22 years, and he went on to throw for almost 1,000 yards more than the next highest player that season.
