On this day in Whatcom County football history:
1983: Lynden Christian senior quarterback Jordan Jansen set a school record by passing for 266 yards in a 25-6 win over Blaine. He completed 14-of-19 passes in the game, and also connected on two touchdowns. His school record stood for nine years.
2011: Meridian junior running back Junior Castro returned TWO kickoffs for touchdowns in a 50-27 victory against Friday Harbor. To my knowledge, he’s the only player in Whatcom County history to do so.
