On this day in Whatcom County football history, the Lynden Lions scored the most points in their illustrious football career than any other night.
The Lions beat Centennial 62-19 to open up the 2011 season. After being eliminated in the first round of the state playoffs a year prior, this offensive output set the tone for an undefeated season and another state championship.
Junior quarterback Josh Kraght was on fire, as he completed 18-of-23 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns. He also scored a fifth touchdown on the ground. Senior Jordan Kreider, most likely the best backup quarterback in Whatcom County history, completed 5-of-8 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior Zach Vis caught nine passes for 150 yards, and fellow junior Luke Christianson caught five passes for 135 yards. They each also collected two touchdowns passes.
Senior defensive back Paul Vanderhoek intercepted a pass, and junior defensive lineman Gabe Kaemingk had a fumble recovery.
