Whatcom Preps Analysis:
One of just three freshmen to make the list. A top hitter all season, and he will put up some serious career batting numbers by the time he graduates. A clutch hitter that led his team in doubles and runs batted in. He did numerous things throughout the season that you just don’t see freshmen do. The moment was never too big for him, which is tremendous quality in a baseball player.
Coach’s Comment:
“For a smaller and young kid Austin has a good understanding of the game. He has a good swing and can hit for power. Being our everyday second baseman on the varsity level can be a lot for a young guy in his first year of high school. He handled himself in the right way and was looking to help his teammates get better, which is a testament to him and his teammates. A memory that happened a couple of times is that guys would get mad at how many times he could get into the cage where I was throwing batting practice. He saw opportunities and he took it. Excited to see his progression over the next 3 years.”
