OAK HARBOR – Strong serving, scrappy defense and solid hitting made up for a complete win by the Meridian volleyball team as the Trojans defeated Oak Harbor in three straight sets, 25-14, 25-13 and 25-10.
Sophomore Avery Neal had a stand out night, playing great defense (seven digs) to go along with her extremely tough serving (five aces.)
Senior Brynn Neal, and juniors Finnley Claeys and Jolena Hoefer, each had strong games at the net once again. Neal had nine kills and eight digs, Claeys added up seven kills, nine digs and four aces, and Hoefer had 15 kills, 10 digs and three aces.
Junior Kadance Blankers had a team-high 15 digs and junior Malaysia Smith totaled 33 assists.
Meridian (6-2) have a quick turnaround and will host Burlington-Edison (6-2) tonight at 7:00.
